Mainframe: The Art of the Sale

Periodically, my consulting engagements necessitate server integration with mainframes. Early in my career, I spent some time with mainframe technologies, and although most of my work since that period has moved to enterprise servers, it is quite apparent that the mainframe is here to stay. Even if it were not for all the legacy systems that reside on such equipment, there will still be the data with which one needs to contend. It is often said that 80% of enterprise data resides on mainframes, and if Pareto holds in this case it is clear that it will be cost prohibitive to migrate all of this data. In addition, it is arguable whether some of this data is best not moved even if there is minimal cost involved. Sales of mainframes are rising. The incredibly hilarious series of videos posted here is obviously not meant to be taken seriously at face value, although it is a bit more for an Office Space rather than a The Office audience. I came across links to these videos while researching IBM WebSphere MQ (formerly known as MQSeries) for a current client.
